Hey there! I’m Thomas, and I’m on a mission to help you become a confident, independent kitesurfer.

Having grown up by the sea with a deep fascination for waves, tides, and storms, kitesurfing beckoned me for years. Yet somehow, I kept talking myself out of it. I could give you a dozen valid reasons—too expensive, too complicated, too time-consuming—but the reality was simpler: fear.

The fact that I’ve been confronted with drowning multiple times made this a journey of facing old demons. The interesting thing about challenges like these is how they call to you. The more I hesitated, the stronger the pull became.

One day in the Winter of 2016, while exploring the mesmerizing coast of Yucatán, I made the decision to dive in. It was a commitment to myself to take it till the end, no matter what. Little did I know that it was the beginning of an intense, rewarding journey that, nearly a decade later, has led me to creating this blog.

Why I Started This Blog

Let me be clear: this isn’t a place where I’ll teach you how to kite—not yet. I’m still too focused on my own progress and feeding my obsession. What I want to do is motivate those drawn to kitesurfing but held back by fear, encourage those just starting out and finding it harder than expected, and support those who, at some point, will feel like giving up. Because trust me, that moment will come.

I want to be the mentor I wish I had when I first started. Despite all the promises you encounter, most beginners won’t be flying through the air and effortlessly gliding over turquoise waters after just one course. Forums and Reddit are full of posts titled “Independent kiter? Why I don’t feel ready” and “An expensive start to kiting, feeling discouraged” for a reason.

Unfortunately, most advice online comes from expert riders, for expert riders. What was missing was an authentic guide I could relate to—someone approaching kiteboarding from the perspective of a doubtful, struggling beginner. Someone who had to work through the doubts, frustration, and mental blocks. I’m not a professional, and that’s the point.

What You’ll Find Here

Having recently navigated these challenges, I can help you avoid common pitfalls, save a ton of money, and get the most out of your kitesurfing journey. I’ll share the unfiltered reality of what it takes to learn—the mental overload of managing multiple skills simultaneously, the unexpected physical demands, and the strategies that actually determine success.

More than anything, I want to inspire you to keep going, to push past the fear, and experience everything this extraordinary sport has to offer.

So if you’re ready to push your boundaries, overcome technical challenges, or take your skills to the next level—this blog is for you.
